About the moderator:
Professor Catriona Macleod has over 30 years of expertise in aquaculture, environmental management, and sustainable resource use, with a focus on science-informed decision-making. Her current research explores how aquaculture can support global sustainability goals, fight climate change, promote recycling and circular economy aspirations, and facilitate ecosystem restoration. She has been a lead investigator in over 30 industry and government projects, served on advisory groups, and held leadership roles, including Executive Director at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies. Catriona has contributed to three Australian Cooperative Research Centres (Aquaculture, Aquafin, and Seafood) and now leads the sustainable production program in the Australian Marine Bioproducts CRC. She is also a board member of New Zealand King Salmon and a founding member of the Australian Sustainable Seaweed Alliance, bringing deep knowledge of the opportunities, challenges, and research surrounding seaweed aquaculture in Australia.
