About the speaker:
Dianne Maynard has over 25 years of experience in marine industries, aquaculture management, and environmental sustainability. A graduate of the University of Tasmania and the Australian Maritime College, she holds qualifications in both Aquaculture and Aquaculture Management.
Dianne has held leadership roles across government and private sectors, including as Specialist Advisor within Marine Resources at NRE Tasmania and executive positions in the Tasmanian salmon industry. She has extensive expertise in aquaculture planning, environmental compliance, stakeholder engagement, and policy development.
Dianne is contributing to emerging marine industries growth through research collaboration abd regulatory systems development. A passionate advocate for sustainable aquaculture, Dianne is committed to fostering innovation and environmental stewardship in aquaculture.Organisation:

The planning, regulatory and governance systems in Tasmania are well established for other types of aquaculture, however seaweed aquaculture presents new challenges and opportunities for the state. This presentation will explore some of the environmental and seaweed health-focused research that is informing industry regulation in Tasmania and assisting in the development of a sustainable industry into the future.
