Nick Hill, Co-founder & CEO, Coast 4C, Australia
About the speaker:
Nick Hill is Co-founder & CEO of Coast 4C. Nick identified the immense opportunity to address the seaweed supply gap when conducting his PhD (Imperial College London and Zoological Society of London - ZSL) research on seaweed almost two decades ago, and was invited to do his research in the Philippines by Coast 4C co-founder & COO Amado Blanco. As well as a PhD, Nick has an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London, and BSc Hons in Ecology from the University of Edinburgh. Prior to Coast 4C, Nick co-founded the multi-award winning Net-Works(TM) initiative, a collaboration between carpet tile manufacturer Interface and conservation organisation ZSL, and the Our Sea Our Life programme at ZSL.

Coast 4C works with smallholder seaweed farmers initially in the Philippines to build a dependable supply of quality, responsible seaweed that addresses global bottlenecks in supply, whilst reviving our ocean and building prosperous and resilient coastal communities. Coast 4C is an environmentally sustainable force that delivers impact across the 4Cs of Community, Commerce, Conservation and Climate. Coast 4C was a Finalist for The Earthshot Prize 2024 and has also been recognised by the World Economic Forum UpLink, Island Innovation Awards and the UN Convention on Biological Diversity.
